Marlon Parker: Keynote Speaker
RLabs founder / Winner of the Lead SA award for National Hero of the year 2015
Marlon Parker is an entrepreneur and advocate for using Technology for Social Good. His passion for community development has influenced his work and led to being the founder of the Reconstructed Living Lab (RLabs), a global movement that has initiated projects in 22 countries. He has been listed as one of the 100 World Class South Africans, an alumni of President Obama’s Young African Leaders initiative and honorary faculty member of the International School of Digital Transformation. During 2014 he was also selected as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, Ashoka Fellow and one of the Top Africans in Technology. He was the co-founder of JamiiX that was the backbone to one of the largest mobile chat counseling networks in the world with more than 4 million people being reached since its inception. Marlon is also a trustee of the Reach Trust and currently in the process of setting up an early stage investment vehicle that will seek to invest in early-stage social entrepreneurs in Africa.
Marlon has been awarded the prestigious Lead SA award for National Hero of the year 2015. This annual award acknowledges the work of social purpose individuals and organizations through a regional and national judging panel. This award is truly a reflection on the work of RLabs the last 7 years as they continue to look ahead and make a difference in the communities that they serve.
