After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant at PWC, he joined the Mr Price Group in 2002, starting his career in Finance and then diversifying to gain more operational experience. He worked in the Hub, Mr Price apparel stores and was part of the team that launched Mr Price Sport in 2006.
He took the merchandising experience gained to a role at Edcon as a Planning Executive for the Edgars chain in 2007. Later he assisted in the creation and leadership of a central group function that investigated and implemented a new ERP system for the Group.
In 2010 he joined Massmart, coinciding with the 51% acquisition of Massmart by Walmart. While at Massmart he sat on both the Boards of Makro and Game as CFO before joining Retailability in 2015.
